About Sydenham House

Sydenham House is a specialist care facility on Monkswick Road in Long Ley, Harlow, Essex. We provide specialist care for people with complex neurological, physical health, rehabilitation and elderly care needs, bringing three specialist services together under one roof across 56 planned beds in a purpose-designed setting.

The people we support are adults living with acquired brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, prolonged disorders of consciousness, polytraumatic injuries and other complex neurological or physical health conditions. We also support people who need active, goal-focused rehabilitation with clear outcomes, and those whose needs are best met in a setting that combines clinical oversight with the routines of everyday life.

Sydenham House is part of Essex Care Group and is registered with the Care Quality Commission. The service is led by our Director and Registered Manager, Jennifer Esmas, and delivered by an experienced multidisciplinary team of specialist neuro physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuro dietitians, specialist neuro nurses, rehabilitation support workers and a specialist elderly care team.

We work in partnership with Neuro Navigation Services, Integrated Care Boards, NHS Trusts, community and rehabilitation teams and social care colleagues to support safe, timely and coordinated transitions of care. Referrals are welcome from health and social care professionals, and families are always welcome to visit.

This website is published and maintained by Sydenham House. It sets out our specialist services, our team and partnerships, the care journey and how to refer, so that professionals and families can find the information they need and get in touch directly.
